Extracurriculars at Pep Club presents Bringing Light to Life: A Therapeutic Art-making Workshop
Sunday, May 4 // 1:00-3:30 pm // 749 N Ashland Ave
Join Amanda & Hannah, two provisionally-licensed art therapists, as they guide you through lantern-making as a vessel for exploring hope in seasonal transitions. The workshop will focus on self-reflection, growth, and eco art therapy. Art-making will include personalized jar lanterns and macrame hangers. We will provide all materials (jar, decoration supplies, twine, tea lights, etc.), cozy beverages, and a take-home pamphlet to guide further reflection. If you have any beads or collage supplies that you would like to incorporate, feel free to bring them!
Descriptions of Facilitators:
Amanda Barr, LPC, ATR-P
Amanda is a licensed counselor and provisionally licensed art therapist with experience in residential, private, and community-based settings. She is a practicing artist with a deep love for fiber art and painting. Amanda has always found the act of artmaking to be a powerful exploration of her own thoughts and experiences, and art therapy provides her with an avenue for guiding others in that process. Amanda lives in Chicago with her two cats and loves rock climbing, lake jumping, board game playing, and reading.
Hannah Kaplan, MA, ATR-P
As an art therapist, Hannah is passionate about exploring how our personal stories influence the way we navigate the world. She believes creativity provides a meaningful way to process these experiences, find personal understanding, and navigate the complexities of the human experience. Outside of her work, Hannah loves immersing herself in tabletop role-playing games, getting lost in books, hanging with her cats, and experimenting with craft hobbies.
